The Solace Salons
Unique performance workshops that helps us find solace.
The Solace Salons are specially devised performance workshops that help people process grief through sharing stories and artistic co-creation. Inspired by rituals such as Nine Nights or shiva, The Solace Salons provide a restorative space for collective mourning while helping people shape new narratives. The project was commissioned by Black Womxn In Theatre and the Bush Theatre to support cultural sector workers recently made redundant. The Solace Salons was The Space To Come's response.
An artist and a ‘healer’ worked together to devise a two-hour online experience which allowed people to share and transform their stories through artistic participation.
In Roots and Branches writing coach Jackee Holder and choreographer Freddie Opoku Addaie took to the woods to help participants explore stages of renewal through movement, writing and nature.
The Sound of Self-Compassion was devised by Gaylene Gould and ethnographic composer and visual artist Liz Gre who offered a sonic dip into self compassion practices. New graphic scores were created by which Liz turned into a new music composition within the workshop.
The Pleasure Principle was co-created by Creative Facilitator Dr Sindi Gordon and comedian John Simmit who helped participants share stories of joyful resilience.
